Umpire Communication Guidelines

Established 4.15.26

Who speaks to an umpire?
No player, parent, or coach should speak to the umpire regarding any calls on the field.

Only the team manager has permission to request a conversation with the umpire. The team manager should be established at the beginning of each game.

Violation of this violates our code of conduct, and degrades our league's mission, which is to promote sportsmanship.

What cannot be discussed with an Umpire?

Balls and Strikes

Safe or Out

Fair or Foul

What can be discussed with an Umpire?

Misinterpretation of a Rule

Rule Clarification

Appeal to another umpire on the field (we usually only have one umpire so this is not in effect often)

Ground Rules

Equipment Issues
